The Rally Point System
Unlike historical formats, the current rally point system dictates that a point is scored on every serve. Matches are generally best of three games to 21 points. If the score hits 20-all, the side that gains a two-point lead first wins the game.

Service Heights & Faults
The shuttle must be struck below 1.15 meters from the court surface during service. Both feet must remain in contact with the ground until the serve is delivered, and the movement must be a continuous forward stroke.

Rankings are based on a rolling 52-week snapshop system. Only the top ten tournament scores for any given player or pair are aggregated to form their total ranking points. During a seasonal hiatus, the BWF may freeze rankings and preserve positions using a standardized coefficient based on previous participation density. Higher-tier tournaments (Grade 1 Major Events) offer significantly higher point weightings than Grade 2 World Tour events.
Deception refers to the practice of masking the shuttle's intended trajectory through wrist snap or late contact. It is technically distinct from a 'flick' (a sudden increase in power) or a 'drive' (a flat, fast mid-court shot). In our technical guides, deception is categorized as an elite cognitive skill primarily used to disrupt an opponent's rhythm and force early movement.
Players are granted two incorrect challenges per match. If a challenge is correct, the player retains it. The review system utilizes multiple high-speed cameras to extrapolate the trajectory of the shuttle.
